Unitarian Universalism, along with its predecessors, has always been considered a liberal religious tradition. In recent years, many UU faith leaders, including our UUA president, have been talking about UU in terms of a liberatory religion, one that generally aims to help liberate the oppressed. What is the difference between liberal and liberatory? What might it mean to embrace the principles of liberation theology in Unitarian Universalism?
