Every year in July Social Justice and Climate Action at UUFS meets to approve a slate of donations to local nonprofits that support our UU values. RE Theme for December: Presence

All I want for Christmas is . . . a pun? Well, yes, in a way. At least wordplay does not rely on non- renewable resources–a definite plus during what can feel like an annual festival of consumption. But of course waste is not the whole story of this season of generosity and miracles, too. December’s theme reminds us of what really matters whether we’re celebrating Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa: presence. Presents or no in your winter gatherings, we’ll take some time to appreciate the gift we are to each other as a community.

UUFS members and friends donated generously once again to support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee's (UUSC). UUSC is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization advancing human rights together with an international community of grassroots partners and advocates. UUSC supports self-determination and defends the rights of people displaced due to climate, conflict or economic hardships.
